Remember Me? I'm the real reason for the Christmas season!
As we rush about getting ready for Christmas, stressing over the perfect gift or a festive holiday meal, we all need to slow down and remember what Christmas is all about… Love.
God’s love for us, our love for one another…
Be thankful for the ones you love, and that you get to spend time together at the holidays, because there are so many people out there who don’t have a family to share the season with. Others have loved ones overseas, in harm’s way, fighting for our freedom, or are the ones abroad, waging a war on terrorists who threaten our country.
And while so many are wracking their brains for gifts, and jetting from store to store to collect something for everyone before Friday, remember those who have nothing this Christmas. Some people, and many children, won’t be getting anything for Christmas this year because of financial struggles beyond anyone’s control. And countless more will be wishing for jobs, or any sort of steady income so that they can provide for their families.
So as you are chatting with relatives you haven’t seen since last year (or longer!), or watching football with friends, remember to say a prayer for those who may not be having the Merry Christmas that so many take for granted. And remember that Christmas isn’t about presents or decorations. It’s about the birth of a Savior who gave up his life so that we may live eternally.
