Memorable Tuesday in prep sports

 

FM boys basketball fans won’t soon forget this year’s Jet Tournament.

The host Jets knocked off Versailles 59-49 Tuesday night to win the event for the first time in 17 years.

Ansonia also won the Holiday Tournament in Union City for the second straight year, and there were two big girls team wins in the afternoon.

Greenville topped Oakwood and MV won at Twin Valley South.

Now all that remains, before the New Year’s holiday, is the Wednesday Versailles at Greenville girls game.

Quite a day!

But for the Greenville boys, maybe the new year will bring the first win of the season.

The first chance is Saturday night at home against Sidney.

    As a past FM basketball fan, I was thrilled to listen to the game on the radio and for them to win their tournament. These kids play hard and are a nice bunch of kids. However, the seniors last year had just as much talent – it is too bad that the senior group from last year did not have this new coach. Oh, what they could have done had they had a coach that knew what he was doing. Glad to see the FM has found a good coach as they have a lot of talent coming up. GO JETS
