Appleman loses at Iron Chef

November 2nd, 2009 | by Linda Moody |

Nate Appleman, graduate of Greenville High School and now a chef, was eliminated from the most recent Iron Chef competition Sunday night in a special double-elimination.
Ten chefs were featured in the challenge which premiered Oct. 4. Appleman lasted five rounds until judges eliminated him from the contest.
Now, there are four remaining.
It’s been enjoyable watching these weekly challenges, and I’m surprised that Appleman was eliminated. He seemed to know what he was doing, but apparently the judges didn’t like what was prepared. Each week, the challengers are given special ingredients and cuisines, and if the chefs aren’t familiar with them, then that is possibly a detriment to them.
The last competition focused on Indian cuisine, which Appleman said he has done very little, if any, of.
I still think he should feel honored to have gotten that far in the contest. He had my vote.
